I am having problems with my laptop everytime i start the laptop in get an error message saying

Windows Product Activation Error - A problem is preventing windows from currently checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0x800703e6

I've seen online that there's a way "around" this (looking for the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files, which i dont have in my computer) but it hasn't worked or most probably I haven't been doing it the proper way.

    Thanks in advance.

PS this laptop was passed on to me, so i dont have the XP cds or any type of cd, only a Recovery Console Cd i made but it hasnt helped either.

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
    • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
    • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    • Click "Continue"
    • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
    • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
    • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

    Please download WVCheck from Artellos.com.
    • Double click WVCheck.exe.
    • As indicated by the prompt, This program can take a while depending on your hard drive space.
    • Once the program is done, copy the contents of the notepad file as a reply.

    Do the same with regsvr32 regwizc.dll and regsvr32 licdll.dll

Looks like you're missing an important module, licwmi.dll (Windows Product Activation Configuration WMI provider).

Browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32. Can you find licwmi.dll?

If not, look inside your i386 folder for a copy of licwmi.dll. The path is:

    C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

    And,

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

    IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything
