I sometimes use Adobe Audition to record something I play on a media player, but at the moment the Windows Recording Control is greyed out, doesn't matter which source I choose, the Master is greyed. I'm just using the Realtek HD rear panel card, sometimes use a USB card, but in this case I just want to record Stereo Mix or What You Hear, but can't. How do I reactivate it? In Computer Management>Services>Windows Audio is 'Started' & 'Automatic'.
Edit. Sorry, Stereo Mix does work ok, just not very loud. It's the Master record level that's greyed at about 75%. In Control Panel I have volume set to full for playback & record.
