You may well have a system resore partition, have a look undercontrol panel, admin tools, computer management then disk management to see how many partitions your harddrive has, what is the make and model, your could get a set disc's from the system manfacturer, or you could get some backup software like aconris true image and make a back up of the system.

This may help on your second concern

Best thing to do is add another hard drive as a slave and then record an image file using Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost. Depending on the size of your hard drive you could create a 19 gb partition uisng Norton Partiton magic and record an image file on it also.

Right Here's how you would perform a system recovery if your windows ever went south, note that on the recovery software you get options to do a complete recovery (back to factory spec) after this you will need to install all programs that never came with the system, also you have a box to tick that keeps your data files, but I would burn them to dvd just incase they got lost. read the info on link below on the recovery program and how to start it, just incase you need it one day.

Untill you can get an external harddrive or a slave drive and back up software like true image, keep backing up you docs, address book, email address and alike to dvd, then if you done a system recovery you could put them back on, some back up softwares likr true image and ghost do back up to cd and dvds, takes a long time to do, but that is better than nothing.

When you do a back up with them it backup your windows, programs and data, so if you restore your system with them its back to the day you backed it up, with packard bell system recovery, you will have to install programs and data back.

    hope this helps

your Packard Bell computer contains the utility Master CD/DVD Creator, which allows you to transfer your computer's recovery data to a Master DVD or a set of Master CDs. This DVD or these CDs will then be required if you need to restore a program or the entire computer.

Do this before messing with partitions, if you lost that back up data drive (hidden fat32) your stuck, better still wait untill you have your external drive and back up software.
