Windows running REALLY slow...

I have no idea why, but my computer is running extremely slow. It's been getting progressively worse, and now is borderline ridiculous. Here are the symptoms/details:

* Windows Explorer freezes/ stops responding.
* Same thing with Taskbar.
* When I restart, ctfmon stops responding, and I need to force end it.
* svchost hovers between 30,000 and 40,000 K Mem Usage.
* explorer is spiked up between 20,000 and 30,000.
* When winamp is running, it's anwhere between 20,000 and 45,000.
* Firefox normally sucks up a lot of memory as well, in the 30s or 40s.
* Antivir doesn't find any viruses.
* HijackThis results listed at end of post.

These are the general specs of my computer:

* Windows XP Pro
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
* Clocked at 2.20 GHz
* 1 GB Ram

I know a gig of RAM isn't much these days, but my computer shouldn't be that slow, right? I mean, I built the computer less than a year ago. Do I need to just quit whining and get some more RAM? Or is it something bigger? Any help would be great. Thanks!
