I've copied-and-pasted your HiJackThis log here so it can be viewed and examined more easily.

What are using for a full-time antivirus program? I don't see one in your log.

Lavasoft Ad-Aware is NOT an antivirus program - if you assumed it is.

I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0.1111.0 - which is free and very user-friendly and well-recommended in these forums.

Also I can't get start in safe mode and when I try to open a program I've pinned to the task bar I get the ping sound as if it is an invalid action if that better explains the problem

Why are wanting to start in "safe mode" instead of in "normal mode"?

I don't pin any programs to the taskbar, so I can't address that issue you're having.

I wanted to run a scan in safe mode so the security software would have a better chance of finding any malware that might be there

Get rid of Lavasoft Ad-Aware and then replace it with the free version of

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.51.2.1300

    SUPERAntiSpyware 5.0.0.1136

After they've been installed and their definition files updated and the computer restarted, run a quick scan with them.

Once the quick scan is finished, select and remove EVERYTHING that was found.

    -------------------------------------------------------

The 3 programs that I've mentioned and linked you to are all that you need to protect your computer.

Then it's pretty much a matter of practicing safe computing habits.
