Does it come up as your home page ?.

If so just change it back to your old home page.

Go to Start > Run and type in MSCONFIG and click ok.
Click the StartUP tab and see if it's listed there, if it is, uncheck it and reboot.

OK, try Start > Settings > Control Panel and double click Scheduled Tasks, is it listed there?

...don't even have "scheduled tasks" on control panel.
have a shortcut at bottom of screen-[system tray] that points to "task scheduler", and that has nothing relating to start up included.

Post a screen shot of what comes up at startup. That will give a clearer idea if whats happening.

Send me a Private Message and give me your e-mail address. I will send you a small application that will give you a list of all the programs that get executed on startup. You can delete whatever you don't want and later on can restore if deletion creates any bigger problems.
