I just reinstalled my copy of Windows 7 and I am currently having trouble with Windows Update. When I check for updates it searches endlessly, there are no errors and I am not sure what is causing this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've waited up to 4 hours, at most. Although I am wondering why Windows Update is not showing up in my notifications on the taskbar nor is it on the list of programs that can be shown on the taskbar, is there a reason for that?

Have you read the Windows 7 install/update guide that I provided you a link to in post #3?

I have read it, thank you. I will wait on trying it though, I would prefer not to start over, if possible.

If you complete step #8 (updating the Windows Update Agent), that may resolve your "checking for updates" issue.
They appear for me within a few minutes.

I managed to download ~200 updates, but for some reason about 75% of them failed to install. I think my issue lies within the wuauserv (Windows Update Service) when I attempt to install an update manually, it doesn't install it just checks for updates on my computer, but, if I restart the service and immediately attempt to install an update manually, it works.

Short version: If I restart wuauserv it allows me to install updates manually, but only for a certain amount of time, then it goes back to an endless loop.

I've tried that, it did not help, unfortunately.

Been there, watched the endless checking for updates.

The key, which took me a few months to figure out is this:
Before you try to install an update manually, go into your update settings and change from check to NEVER.
The checking for updates then goes for less than 30 seconds and the update will install.
