I have been trying to update my wifes computer via the Microsoft Update Site. It has always updated successfully in the past. However, it now always fails and the list of security updates is growing. I have listed the current updates that are selected after the system scan that fail each time I try. I even tried turning off my internet security to no avail. Her system is a Dell Inspiron 600m running XP Pro. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    List of updates that fail:
    Update for Windows XP (KB900485)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB914389)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB917344)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB913580)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB917953)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB911280)
    Update for Windows XP (KB916595)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB914388)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB917159)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB921883)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB918899)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB917422)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB920670)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB920683)

What browser are you using, or are you using the automatic updates?

One thing you might try is going to
www.getfirefox.com and installing that, and going to Microsofts Website and download the updates that way. It may or may not work.

What AV software are you using? Have you checked lately for Malware and is that software up to date?

Auto update doesn't work either so I don't think it's the browser. No malware I'm aware of as Norton Internet Security 06, Scan Spyware, and AdAware find nothing. Tried Firefox with no luck. Which AV can cause an issue?

Norton would be the one to worry about there.

Have you turned off your firewall(s) long enough to give the download a shot?

Norton, the XP SP2 firewall both? They shouldn't block the Windows updates, but stranger things have happened.
