For a while now occasionally I will find my computer has decided to restart on it's own, then when I log in, suddenly nothing loads anymore. I'll log in... wait 2-3 minutes... try to open Pidgin and nothing happens.

To solve the problem I have to restart in safe mode and restore to a point from 2-3 days before. It's happened again tonight and now it keeps being unable to restore to the point I chose. Has anyone heard anything about an issue like this and how to stop it? One day after I restored I tried to just update on my own and it told me it failed for an unknown reason.

Also about tonight, it failed on one restore attempt, so I tried to restore a few days earlier and it's been on the "clearing registry" screen for a while now.

At this point I think it'd be best if I just installed XP from my old computer or tried to see if a friend of mine has an MSDNAA copy of Windows 7 free because I'm sick of all the garbage I keep getting from Vista.

    Thanks for any help.
