Win 7 64bit Lenovo. Update window shows error 80070422 and said no updates installed since Sept. 8, but MSE has updated regularly. This appears to be a common problem, tried several suggestedsolutions and ran windows trouble shooter which said it fixed four problems. Still shows same error and says it has never been updated. Thanks

...tried several suggestedsolutions...
Did one of those solutions entail deleting and recreating the %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder? If so, that's why it's stating it's never been updated since the folder is empty and it has to be repopulated.

Regarding Error Code 80070422: check in Services and ensure the Windows Update service is set to Automatic.

Both the Win 7 and Win 10 October bi-annual updates got pulled by MS. Not sure the reasoning (if the same) for the Win 7, but the Win 10 was deleting personal folders and files on people's machines, seemingly at random.

In Win 7, people need to install or have installed 3177467 (first appeared in Sept. 2016) but of course it wasn't offered. The updates failed because of it.
I suspect there were additional problems that's why the cumulative and the security only updates were pulled.

Now there are two versions of 3177467, one dated the 8th and the other dated the 10th October. I'm still trying to determine if both need to be installed or only the latest.

Wait a few weeks and some of the pros will get us through this month's mess.
