For weeks now, update KB931784 keeps coming up as an update. I click OK and the update downloads, goes through the installing process, completes and then the message for the same updates ready to be installed comes right back. All other updates have worked flawlessly except this one. What can I do to try and address this issue and get this updates installed properly?

    I have an idea....

    1. Go to this website and download the update manually (SAVE the file.. do not try to open it from the internet... and make sure to remember where you saved it EX.. C:\ManualUpdate )
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a7-4858-4b6b-9c6d-a9f1eae19b51&displaylang=en

    2. After the file is saved to C:\ManualUpdate go to start>run and type in "C:\ManualUpdate\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o (NOTICE THE SPACE BETWEEN QUOTES AND /o!!!) click run

    3. Let your computer process it... and that should work...

Muffy7, thanks for the reply. Problem I am having with your suggestion is that can't save this file ( or don't know how). The only choice I seem to have is to download and install. Nowhere can I find any other choice with this.

Hmm, when you click "download" you should get a screen asking to "run" "save" or "cancel" (if you are using IE7) Just click save...

If you are using Firefox, the only options are to save or cancel.

    what browser are you using?
