    Hi everyone,

I attempted to connect my girlfriends laptop to a Thomson ST585 wireless router. The laptop is running Windows Vista Basic with a broadcom wireless LAN card.

It is an ADSL connection, and when I connect the router to the computer using a wire, it connects fine but when i try to connect to the wireless network, it finds the connection but when I click connect it keeps failing and I cannot understand why.

The connection is with Pipex and when I ran the installation cd, it gave the network a name and password automatically. It is protected with WEP but not WPA. I have even had it where it says connected but when I try and use it, it isn't actually working.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    First Name:
Disable encryption on the router and try to connect that way. If successful re-enable encryption and reconnect. Use WPA-PSK (or WPA2) if possible. If you have to use WEP (it's better than nothing) use a HEX key, not an ascii passcode.
