I turned on a Philips 15nb57 series Model No EAA-89, but my battery died on start up and I didn't have time to put the power cable in.

I then switched on laptop again and the following error came up,‘Windows Error Recovery, windows fail to start , recent hardware or software installation may be problem'

    then...

'Do you want to start windows normally or go to recovery?

    Recovery mode
Start repair environment (doesn’t do much)
    Reinstall windows
    Adv options
    Exit and restart'

Do you think I have corrupted the Bios and need to get a external floppy drive (or flash drive) to reinstall it?

This is a friends computer who had support from the 'tech support' recently, they took control of her 6 yr old laptop to install a small program to fix a wireless printing problem. hopefully not related.

    Thanks

    Glyn

Should I reinstall bios from this link?

Ahh I think iv solved it, went into Diagnostics options by pressing ESC on start up.
    then requested,
Startup from last working boot up.

Took 5 mins but it looks to be working ok now.
    Thanks for your help

Pleased you solved it - sorry I could not reply before - been offline from 13 Nov until now.

HOWEVER Are you sure it is XP, as I think it is Vista - perhaps you posted in the wrong forum
No problem of course the main thing being that it is sorted, but the procedures for solving such a problem are in some respect different on Vista, where there are options not available on XP.

Would you kindly mark your topic solved please.
Thanks and good luck with it
