I installed drivers for a scanner and when the computer rebooted, I received the message:
    c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD: Missing/Unable to Load
    Press any key to continue.

When I press a key, the computer immediately shuts down.

    Please Help!!

this sounds like your fix Error Message: VMM32.VXD: Missing/Unable to Load

This behavior can occur if the Umaxis11.386 file is being loaded from the System.ini file. This file is used by UMAX scanner software.

This behavior can be caused by a file that is used by the Genius scanner software. The Genius scanner file is named Smis11.386.

uninstall the drivers to be able to boot back into windows.

are those drivers the one supplied with the scanner? if so. go get the drivers from the manufacturer web site.

also try and boot from safe mode.
