windows won't shut down.

    could anyone please explain why windows will not shut down when I press start, shut down, restart. It just freezes on the window that says "windows is shutting down"
    any help is appreciated.

    There can be many reasons why windows will not Shutdown completely. Most of the time it is problem programs but it also could be that Windows is attempting to shutdown to Fast.
    Here is a website that works you through 15 steps that will help isolate and fix the problem.
    And also some specific to WinME
    If you need help through it please ask and also let us know how it went.

    Download the windows 98 shutdown patch from the microsoft updates website.
