Windows XP 11 percent stop?

    Hey guys, i have yeat another problem lol. Well im working on my friends labtop which is a sony vaio with no disk drive and i was trying to format it so i created the partions and began to format but... it stoped at 11 and wont go. so i restarted and put the partition all together but yeat it still wont work. So i borrow my friends XP cd, but the same problem happens. Can anyone help me out? :(

    What program did you use to create the partitions and format with?

    Perhaps drop the HDD out and slave it to a desktop (the adapters are cheap) and run the disk manufacturer's utility over it? It may be dodgy.

    By the way, what actually is a "labtop"? Is it a laboratory version of a laptop or something?
