Trying to load Windows update. Get message saying I need to acitvate active x controls.
How do you do that? I was instructed to look in drop down menu under tools, but couldn't find any ref to active x in the drop down tab.

    Thanx

    Hello and welcome!
Look for a yellow bar similar to the address bar to drop down under the tabs.. it will say something like 'install active x' or 'download this file'.. click those words on the yellow bar and the download will begin..

Billy the adult said to look for a yellow bar similar to the adress bar and click on the pull down menu. I don't see a yellow bar. I'm using IE 8 beta. I see no pull down menu that says anything about active x. What am I doing wrong?

You may have answered your own question.. IE8 beta.. but you can try temporarily turning on pop-ups..but I'm betting it's IE8 not showing it.
Here's a test you can try to see if it works.. http://www.pcpitstop.com/testax.asp If you don't see a yellow bar in this test site click in the text where it says 'See these instructions" to enable ActiveX..

    Billy,

I turned off the popup blocker and that fixed my problem. I've been trying to fix this for over a week.

I really appreciate you taking your time to help me out.

    Thank you very much!!
