    Hello:

Recently, my son (I think) attempted to download something from the internet. The computer froze. I started to run a virus scan, but it was so slow that I tried to re boot my computer. It wouldn't reboot. It goes from screen to screen (about four different ones), and goes through that same cycle over and over. I would like to be able to save my Microsoft Word files. I do not have any discs to use as bootup discs. I have had my computer for around 5 years. It is a Windows XP system.

Is there anything I can do?
