I recently installed a third party defragmenter, Perfect Disk by Raxco, but uninstalled it because the trial was finished. I went back to defrag my hard drive through the graphical Windows XP defragmenter, but nothing happened at all. I then tried defragmenting with the command prompt (defrag c. It paused for a second and gave the the message "Windows cannot connect to the Disk Defragmenter engine." I ran the chkdsk utility, fixed a few errors, and tried again but still face the same error. Any help?
