I have a secondary slave Maxtor drive that's used primarily for backup and storage. It's only 6 months old. Yesterday, after installing MySQL, Windows stopped recognizing this hard drive. I has simply disappeared from Explorer. A simple restart does nothing. I'm not sure if it's related to the MySQL installation, but I mentioned it anyway.

If I boot in Safe Mode, the hard drive appears and works fine. I can then restart from Safe Mode into Normal Mode and the hard drive is there. The hard drive only disappears when restarting from Normal Mode.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Hi Mad
Have you tried disconnecting it restarting, shutting down then reconnecting it and allowing the pc to "re-see" it.
Just a thought

I shut down, disconnected drive, booted, shut down, reconnected, and booted. Twice. It didn't help.

The only way I can access this drive in a fully-functioning Windows environment is to reboot from Safe Mode.
