    Hi Folks,
Got friends dell system which will notboot up properly. It is running Win XP home edition. System manages to load past the black windows XP logo screen then changes to blue XP logon screen and hangs up. System does not completely hang up as still able to move cursor around screen

    Any ideas?

How about last known good configuration? If you have anything external plugged into it, be sure to remove those, no cd in the drive etc.

Last known config been tried. Bare bones system, keyboard monitor & mouse attached. I dont know what user was last doing before problem, I think he may have deleted a file he shouldnt have.

I think I'd try to do a Windows repair installation then. Don't choose the first repair option, it'll be like a new install, then when you are told that a windows install exists, do you want to repair that one, go that route.
