My monitor is a NEC MultiSync 75, and I have the drivers for it, i.e. the .inf files, I believe is what they *.* is on it. I borrowed this computer from a friend, and I believe the motherboard is an older model. Unfortunately, I can't figure out what it is. Anyways, I'm running this monitor on a 640x480 screen resolution, and it's extremely annoying. When I do a Control Panel/Display/Settings, the only resolution choice I have is that 640x480 resolution, and it says that my monitor is just a default monitor. I click on advanced in settings, then on monitor, but the properties button is greyed out. Is there a way to manually insert the drivers into a Win XP directory? Surely I'm not screwed out of a high resolution, so any help would be most excellent.

You need to reload the video graphics adapter driver. Not the monitor driver.

Perhaps download Everest (was called Aida32) or Belarc Adviser and see if that will ID your graphics chipset/card. Then use Google to find the drivers, download and install them.
