    Hello,

I've been having a very annoying problem with my Windows XP Machine. The mouse only works when plugged into 1 specific port and in any other port it works while the drivers are being installed then once they are finished... dies. I tried the mouse in 2 other computers -- works fine. Tried another mouse in this one and it doesn't work.

    Model: Dell Optiplex 790
    OS: Windows XP 32 Bit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What's the exact 7-character "service tag/serial" number on your Dell OptiPlex 790?

Are you using a USB wired mouse or a USB wireless mouse with receiver unit?

Does the Windows XP 32-bit running in that Dell have Service Pack 3(SP3) as part of it?

Found this where someone was trying to install Win 10 on an Optiplex 790.
If you have a PS/2 mouse port, use that.

And this for Win 7 with computers in a school district
    No solution given.
