First and foremost, I'm not exactly a computer whiz about this stuff, so forgive my slowness.

So the situation played out like this. For months now, the computer I have would just completely freeze at random moments in time, forcing us having to shut it off and turn it back on again. However, as I've said, the times are completely random, for it would work for about four hours, but then freeze. Or it could freeze five minutes into turning it back on.

Another error I believe is relating to this would have to be that the memory usage claims that it's almost all used up or something like that, and it would warn me about it, despite having installed two drives of memory recently in hopes it stops the problem.

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, 32 bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+, x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0
Processor Count: 1
RAM: 959 Mb
Graphics Card: VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP, 64 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 40782 MB, Free - 19799 MB; D: Total - 33032 MB, Free - 31427 MB; I: Total - 40625 MB, Free - 39848 MB;
Motherboard: ASUSTek Computer INC., Kelut
Antivirus: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled

And looking at the event log, there are two noticeable errors that seem to show up after I turn the computer on. These event logs are described as 7000 + 7009, the source being from the Service Control Manager. Both errors are found together.

Event Error 7009
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the lxebCATSCustConnectService service to connect.

Event Error 7000
The lxebCATSCustConnectService service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, that was fast. :p

No, I never play games on this computer, in fear that it'll freeze or muck up the system further, seeing its current state of condition.

In short, no. Not in any form. Merely use Internet and OpenOffice on this thing.

Understand....

Right click on a empty place on the task bar and choose Task Manager and tell us the CPU and Memory usage at the bottom,

Well, it lists out three different things. There are currently:

Processes: 57 / CPU Usage: Jumping from 30%-50% (While typing this) / Commit Charge: 962-965M/1547M

That's all there was to it.

Ok....something is taking up a lot of CPU usage

Try and click on the processes tab with Task Manager open and look down the list and see what is taking the most memory

For conveniences, I'll list out only the ones that take up +10,000 K. Right, so it appears that there are about 57 processes in total, but I'll list out the ones taking up a lot.

AVGIDSAgent.exe (10,652 K)
firefox.exe (271,688 K)
explorer.exe (17,188 K)
soffice.bin (50,756 K)
AppleMobileDevice (11,632 K)
svchost.exe (23,264 K)
TeaTimer.exe (58,592 K)
plugin-container.exe (30,100 K) <- Number keeps changing
iTunesHelper.exe (12,492 K)
avgwdsvc.exe (13,148 K)

So those were the processes that took up more than 10,000 K. To be honest, I don't know what many of these processes are...

I assume these 57 processes are what's causing the computer to lock up at random times?

Okay, any idea how I could disable Tea Timer however?

I think I can uninstall FireFox, but I have no idea what Tea Timer is.

Alright, so I was able to uninstall FireFox (gonna miss it) and disabled Tea Timer.

Awaiting further instructions for now. Also, will it be possible to get FireFox back later? I prefer it over IE8. :p

I delete Internet Temp Files regularly, but I didn't know about the other Temp. Just did so, and should restart the computer in a jiffy.

Awaiting further instructions.

I would suggest posting a hijack log for someone to have a look

1. Please download HijackThis:
Please go here to download HijackThis.
To the right of the green arrow under HijackThis downloads click on the Executable button and download the HijackThis.exe file to your desktop.
Double-click the HijackThis.exe file on your desktop to launch the program. If you get a security warning asking if you want to run this software because the publisher couldn't be verified click on Run to allow it.
Click on the Scan button. The scan will not take long and when it's finished the resulting log will open automatically in Notepad.
Save the log file to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your post.
