I have an external USB hard drive with only a basic DOS OS and lots of documents I archive. When I plug it into a USB port on my computer running Windows xp sp3 it detects the drive, then undetects it, then detects it again, then undetects it, etc. It keeps going back and forth so I never have a chance to access the drive before it disappears again. I've tried different USB cables and ports. How can I get it to be recognized and stay recognized?

    Hello, and welcome to TSG.

I suggest you check the connections inside the drive's casing.
