My daughters computer began automatically restarting itself over and over - never getting windows started.I was able to get the computer operating again - but only for one day. Then I received the message:
"unable to find any AIC-78xx/AIC-75xx AISPI8dos.sys"

Now, when we turn it on it states:
"file pciide.sys caused an unexpected error (4128) at line 5882 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\setup.c"

What kind of virus or worm caused it and can I restore Windows ? If so, what should I do to protect the system? She uses it for school - but also does a lot of AIM instant messaging and spends time on Myspace.com. - is there daily maintenance that should be done to keep the computer clear and running fast ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated - Thanks!
