i have a friend that has a new computer with windows xp installed. they are afraid to hook it up to the internet for fear of getting the microsoft problem....i went to the microsoft web page and downloaded the update to my desktop then burned a copy of it on a cd so they could install the update. when they click on the update to install it the program wouldnt run.....acted like it was going to be didnt.

any suggestions?

Dell recommended hooking to internet and going imediately to update but they dont want to take any chances.
thanks

Have them start the xp firewall first by going to control panel/ network connections / and right click on the connection . Then choose properties and advanced tab. Have them check the box for protection with the firewall . This way the blaster worm will not see the pc while they are online. Then have them get all the updates including the one highlighted in yellow for security purposes.
