Windows XP user setting file missing

Windows XP restarts with following message :

Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Contact your administrator.

After that all settings like wallpaper, screen saver, shortcuts are missing.
How to correct them.

Not much you can do but to create a new profile. You could try copying the old profile over to the new to see if it works, but depending on the degree of corruption, you may need to create a new profile from scratch.

Search for "copy a user profile" in Start > Help & Support.
