If I install win XP and have too much trouble with compatibility will it be easy to boot into dos and format the hard drive so that I can install win 2k instead? Also, when installing XP besides entering in the serial number what else, as far as activation will I have to do? Thank you.

No, it will not be a problem. XP is really a combination of Window 2000 and 98/ME. It offers Compatibility modes that Windows 2000 does not have, making possiblem to run more applications. It also fully support Plug-and-Play making new hardware easy to add. You do have to enter serial number during installation and you have up to 30 days to Activation it, otherwise it will stop working. You do not have to Register it or give any personal information during Activation.
