    Go to start>run and Type services.msc

    Find Messenger on the list. Double click it . On the Startup Type list choose Disabled.

    On this same page, click the Stop Button to stop the service now.

    CLick Apply. OK.

    Start -> Run -> RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    Will remove it from your system if you don't want it at all.
