    Try again in Safemode

The multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(o)partition(1)\Windows\System32\drivers is normal before it goes into Safemode just leave and see

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
    3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

first find-out if it is a fan running...take the side off and have a look.....see if it is clogged with dust or something

The question is if I have a hardware problem or Windows XP problem or ?????
Since the computer goes to the windows startup screen and hangs there I suspect it is a XP problem......
When my computer starts up the fan always is on high - then it shuts down to low....now it just stays on high....so is that just part of the XP problem - but it stays on high after I get started in Safe Mode....??????
Does the fact that I tried to update the Windows Media Player - and it got hung up on that - have something to do with it? During that process it was trying to save a restore point.....
does the fact that it got hung up there have something to do with it?
But why will it not restore - in the safe mode?
    This all has me worried.............

The reason I ask you tomlook to see if dust was a problem because the Fan seems to be running on high to long and it coulc=d be it is trying ti=o keep the CPU cool as it may be getting hot.

Try thi free utility to see how warm your CPU is SpeedFan
