    Greetings.

My girlfriend's Celeron PC runs on WinME, has broadband cable net access, and is overrun by popups from a "firstadsolutions" crap. A couple of processes called ptsnoop and hearts sect show up everytime the task manager is used, and I figured I'd better check 'em up to see if they were somehow related to the popups. I couldn't find anything on the hearts sect process and It seems the ptsnoop thing is a backdoor to the PC AND a modem utility at the same time, which confused me a great deal, being unnecessary with cable access and all... After miserable failure from Spybot and Adaware to correct the popup problem, I installed HJT to post a log and see if you guys could please help out to correct any security issues at hand. What should I do with the ptsnoop/hearts sect issue and which popup blocker and firewall would you reccommend (preferrably free of charge :D )?

Thanks a bunch. Viktor and Mme. Firefly.

PS: We hope you won't mind a bit of spanish in the logfile, sorry.

    Uninstall MessengerPlus3 from Add/Remove Programs.

Download and run Ad-Aware SE: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

Install the program and launch it.
First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.
Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.
Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
To start the scan, click the Next button.
When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next).

    Reboot.

    Run ActiveScan online virus scan:
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
Save the results from the scan.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the ActiveScan.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be posting the new log soon. I managed to find and delete the hearts sect and the trayooze executables that opened the popup windows, so that's one thing less to worry about.
