Ok so whenever Im listening to a cd or a song mp3 wav whatever and I launch winmx no matter what version, it makes a hissing sound for about 1 second. It doesnt matter what type of file im playing or what media player Im using ect.

Ive had this same problem with this system since the first time I used winmx on this system. At first this system had the built in sound chip Ac 97 crap it didnt matter it did the hissing sound then and it does it now. I now have a sound blaster 5.1 sound card and speaker set but that doesnt matter becuase it does the hissing thing now and it did it back then with the other sound device. I have no other problems with to sound this is the only one.

I have an athlon 1.4 system with an amptron mobo. SB 5.1 dolby digital with an Inspire 5200 series speaker set (5.1) on a pci slot.

    Windows XP Home.

    regards, Piringa

    Hiya

I assume the hissing sound is when WinMX is trying to connect, or is it when its updating the files? Either way, it may be due to the fact that the system kinda freezes when it does that.

Just tried it out, and couldn't hear any hissing sound. Do you get the same problem without a music file playing?

    Regards

Yeah it does the hiss when it goes throught the files, so yeah when it updates the files. Theres no hissing when theres nothing playing.

It may be just something you'll have to bear. Are your speakers very sensitive?

Yeah i guess I'll have to live with it, yeah my speakers are high end. Insire 5200 speaker set by creative labs (5.1) I also have the sound blaster live 5.1 digital sound card but that doesnt matter, it happened before I did this updgrade and it persists
