hewee: Thanks for the tip. Should I remove the older version before installing this one? I have the paid for version.

    Your both welcome.

I closed down WP and did a install over top. All worked great.
But after looking in the add/remove I seen WP listed 3 times.

    WinPatrol
    WinPatrol 2007 Restore/Remove First
    WinPatrol 2007 Step 2

This morning I dis a uninstall and clean up with RegSeeker and did a clear instll.
Now I only have 2 listed in add/remove.

    WinPatrol 2007 Restore/Remove First
    WinPatrol 2007 Step 2

Got over to the WinPatrol forum and you can get more of what I did and the notes I posted.

New Version Release: WinPatrol 2007 v11.1.2007

But still what I did today really did not need to be done because all was working ok.
Bill said that the "WinPatrol 2007 Step 2" was from the beta version but your see a link in the thread to the beta version and it was never install because it wanted me to uninstall what I had first.
Anyhow the "WinPatrol 2007 Step 2" does seem to be for version 11.1.2007 and that is the new version.

    So a uninstall is easy.
You got your 1st and 2nd.

The 1st put back any changes you make in the time delay and the 2nd uninstalls WP.

So how ever you do a install it should work out great because both installs I did worked great.

Looks like installing without first removing the old version is acceptable. I'll go that route. Thanks to both of you. Incidentally, Bill P. lives only some ten miles from me.

Yea can't hurt to uninstall and reboot and then do a install.

Looks like Bill also lives right next to a golf course too.

I found both the old and new versions listed at the Control Panel> Add/Remove. Looks like it would be best to remove the old before installing the new. I have now, obviously, removed the old version.

Yea I did a over install and had these 3 in add/remove

    WinPatrol
    WinPatrol 2007 Restore/Remove First
    WinPatrol 2007 Step 2

So I wanted to do a clean install so I...

I closed down WP and ran add/remove and removed "WP 2007 restore/remove first"
Then removed WP 2007 Step 2.
Then looked in add/remove and the WInPatrol was also gone so all 3 in add/remove are now gone.
    Still have these 3 folders...
    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Installer\{3205A978-4A7A-403B-A4B9-D48E6BAFB73B}
    and
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\WinPatrol - (this seems to be hosts file backup and notes
    and
    C:\Program Files\BillP Studios

I shut down PC and started it again.
The 3 folder are still there.
Ran RegSeeker and ran a clean registry scan.
I deleted this here from RegSeeker...

I ran a seach in RegSeeker on BillP Studios and found some but did not delete them so see note "Not -Deleted-from registry" of what I exported.

Installed WP 2007 and in installed and started up.
Got New Program Alert on new ayto start program "C:\Program Files\BillP Studios\WinPatrol\WinPatrol.exe" and ok it.

All setting etc are the same so it remembered everything

Add/Remove now has only two listed...
    WinPatrol 2007 Restore/Remove First
    WinPatrol 2007 Step 2

Shut down and start PC again and all is ok.
Well till I went to get online and start Firefox.
I get pop-up from Zone Alarm asking if I want to let Firefox and Components to act as a server?
It is for the component patrolpro.dll
I said no but each time I open ZA I get the pop up.
In the Components list patrolpro.dll has a ? mark by it.

I just had to give patrolpro.dll rights by putting a checkmark by it.
Now my ZA setting are real high.
If your setting are lower then the changes are made without you seeing a popup.

hewee: Thanks for the lengthy, detailed reply. I am going to leave "good enough alone," since all seems to be working properly.
I am going to send an e-mail to Bill P. suggesting that he give clear instructions for updating, calling his attention to this Thread.

Your welcome redoak. But like with me WP worked just find doing the over install and after redoing it with a clean install the only change was the add/remover had 2 listed and not 3.

But either way if you run the "WinPatrol 2007 Restore/Remove First" it will take care of things for you.

Nope, no golf course, that's my yard.
There's also a lake there but you could be looking at the wrong property

The house numbers on our street are messed up so most of the mapping programs show me in the middle of the block when we're on the corner.

If you use Google Earth you'll need to type in 44 Sunnyside Rd, Scotia, NY to get where BillP Studios is. :)
Contrary to the label, the current image is actually from April 2005.
The black truck in the driveway has the new sod for around the new pool.
The white truck is Sierra Windows and Siding which did the outside of the house.
A lot of work was done that year.

Hey good to see you here Bill. :)
    Welcome to TSG too.

Have not been able to get over to your forum at CC for days because the site has a DDos attack.

Ok looking again and zooming I guess it was the sand or tan color spots I was thinking was sand traps. Zooming in more I can see better but can't see the sod but do see the truck.

Is that really a lake or a really big pond?

I know if I lived around there I would be down there fishing. :D

    Hey Hewee,

Glad I found the site here thanks to my neighbor.

Yes, it's a lake complete with rowboats, fishing, kayaks and a swimming beach.

If you come up this time of year we have some pretty good ice fishing.

Nice lake there but a little to far from be to just drop by.
I used to live in Goshen, NY years ago till 1966, Then we lived in Winding Hills by a lake. Only 3 homes were back there but now it's a park and the rangers live in the home that we lived in back in the 50's
