I am using winxp pro. My virus scan have detected a virus named winstart001.exe at
    c:\windows\system\winstart001.exe
    The anit-virus software(FIX-IT UTILITIES 4)is unable to remove/clean it.
How can i remove it and is it harmful to the system. My computer have been hanging when i left it on overnight to download movies.
There's a virus in kazaa's folder as well. I think the name is something like NLNP24.exe. Is it really a virus as detected?
And how do i remove it.

    ahhoe ,

    Start with the following ,

Remove Kazaa in Add/Remove in the control panel , Reboot and follow-up with KazaaBegone http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/kazaabegone.zip
Unzip KazaaBegone to a Temp Folder , and run it.

Next , download and install Spybot search & destroy www.security.kolla.de Open Spybot search & destroy , Click Online , Search for updates , Download all available updates , log offline , Close all browser windows , check your taskbar for minimized windows as well , Run Spybot search & destroy , put a check in every entry Spybot search & destroy returns , Click fix problems. Shutdown & Reboot your computer.

Finally , download Hijack This v1.97 www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ Unzip Hijack This to your Desktop , Press Scan , Scan button becomes Save log button (Do not fix anything yet) , Save the log to the Desktop , Return to this thread , Copy and Paste the log to the forum

    Good luck
