    "INTEGRITY CHECK FAILED. This file has been modified. reason might be a possible virus infection.

    I get this when trying to open various programs on my ME machine.

    Can anybody help?

    Definitely sounds like a virus. I found quite a few hits on google relating to virus's that attempt to copy itself to winupdate32.exe. Best run an up to date virus scanner.

    hey WILD download this program http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and run

    then to be sure is not a virus

    Check for Viruses with online scanners:
    Norton/Symantec --> http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym
    Trend Micro --> http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
    BitDefender --> http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
    RAV Antivirus --> http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
    Panda ActiveScan --> http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
    McAfee Security --> http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp

    then download this program and post your log close all programs before you run
    and dont fix anything for now
