winword not responding-locked in runnung mode

microsoft word stuck in running mode - will not open - message reads "system dangerously low in resoures "- can not shut down unless I shut off power and restart - tried restoring system to earlier time can not do - uninstalled & reinstalled micro word with no results - was in print shop w/ a number of windows open when error accured - other error messages read - --------------- (an exception 0E has occured at 0028:C026524 in VxD-this was called from 0026:C002f285 in VxD)------------------------------------
