A friend's WinXP box is rebooting every time the HP Officejet 5510 printer is turned on.

Typically she leaves the printer on all the time, and turns the computer on only when she needs it. The computer gets part way thru the startup process then it reboots. And reboots at the same place again. And again. The same happens if the printer is already on, and you turn on the computer.

I think the USB driver is corrupted, and that it keeps hitting the corrupted driver during startup, and rebooting - but don't know how to reinstall it.

To try and fix the USB driver:
I've removed and reinstalled the printer driver.
I've reinstalled SP2.
I've reinstalled the Windows Critical Update that came with the printer, then reinstalled the printer driver.

I contacted HP, who advised me to update the BIOS, which I've done. No cigar.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
