Ok, So I installed XP several weeks ago, and for the first few weeks, it ran fine, was very stable with minimum errors. Then after a couple weeks, my computer started to shutdown and reboot, at random, without command. So I turned off the "automatically restart" option under system failure, and now I get a blue screen, saying Windows shutdown your computer to prevent damage. It said something about driver error or bios caching or shadowing... quite confusing. This new blue screen has been happening for a few days now, and I'm comtemplating getting rid of WinXP and switching back to Win 2000, regretably. Are there any suggestions? Please respond asap. :)

This may not work for you unfortunately because of the nature of the problem, but here is what I found.

Select Help and Support off the Start Menu.

Under Help Topic Select Fixing a Problem

Then select Startup and Shutdown Problems

On the right, select Startup and Shutdown Troubleshooter, and follow the directions.

    I sure hope this helps.
