    Are you using XP pro?

If so, there is an easy way to force the use of the classic theme.

Go to start - run and type in gpedit.msc and press enter.

When the policy editor starts, go into the user configuration and Open up the administrative templates.

    Then open up Display

    Open up Desktop Themes.

Inside of here there is an option called Load a specific visual style or force Windows Classic. Double click it and then select the enable option.

Exit the Group policy editor and reboot.

Any new user should have the classic Windows 2000 theme when they start up.
