I have a hp laptop with a built in 802.11 b/g broadcom wireless adapter and also a linksys wrt150n wireless router. The problem is thats the xp wireless icon will go from 54mps to 1mps and this is with a very good connection.

Sounds like wireless interference, have you tried changing the channel?

I agree with the wireless interference, but can add that I had a similar problem when I had an incorrect driver for my wireless adapter. After I got the right one (from laptop manufacturer's web site) the connection was fine.

I have tried changing channels from 11 to 6 to 1 ad it makes no difference. I have checked for a updated driver also and I have the latest one.

Can you check a different computer with your router, or your computer on a different wireless network?
