Just moved in with a friend she has cox high speed internet with a wireless router. Per PC is pluged directly into the router and has a laptop she uses wireless. I have a laptop and a PC with a antenna, they both pick up her signal, put in password, and it says connected with little or no connectivity. I have reset the modem and it neither will pick it up. Hers is working fine. What do I need to do? I have reset the router and my pc and laptop, they recognize the wireless network, and it is apparently connecting but not pulling a i.p. address.

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect that way. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

If unsuccessful, what kind of encryption is used? And please show for an attempted connection ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
