Just a simple question. My apartment complex has installed wireless ethernet. My desktop computer has a 10/100 ethernet card installed, but I suppose I need to purchase a wireless card. What am I looking at as far as installation? Does it slide into a slot, or would somebody who's never opened his chassis before be better of getting pro help?

The ones I have seen advertized just plug into the ethernet jack on the back of the computer....I dont have one but my best guess is check with the manager of the apartment complex to ensure you get one that matches their frequency.

The ethernet cat5 cable will plug into the jack, but we're not on a cable ethernet. It's wireless, so all I need is the ethernet card, which plugs into a PCI slot. How do I access the PCI slots in my comp?

    Thanks

You need to open the case and see if you have an empty PCI slot.

It's a rather simple operation to install it...just be sure you unplug everything and ground yourself before touching anything inside......I normally just touch the metal case.......
