My family has a wireless network set up for the house which i have used without any problems many many times before. I got back home last week and connected to the network without a glitch, but have been unsuccessful in loading any pages at all. The only thing that has changed since using the network last time is that my BullGuard security subscription has run out, not sure if that should make a difference. My brothers can still use the network as normal and my computer seems to be the only one having trouble. Its a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 and runs with Windows XP. Im not exactly a computer wizz but ive tried the basic 'diagnose connection problems' and double checked what it told me too, but still no luck. any help would be hugely appreciated, cheers

I know nothing about BullGuard, but some security applications now as a security precaution block internet access if their data definitions get too far out of date.

Yeah I uninstalled BullGuard but the problem is still there, its driving me insane! Any other ideas of what might be causing it?

Please show the following ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

ping <your IP address, which you get from the above>

ping <the Default Gateway address>

ping 69.147.125.65

ping yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

You seem to have good communication with the router, but 75% of the pings to Yahoo! are lost. I was ready to say there is a problem with ISP or modem or maybe router. But then I reread and see that others have good internet access with the same equipment.

We've seen a lot of problems with the Atheros AR5007EG (and AR5007) adapter lately. Mostly with WPA2 encryption, some with WPA, and some no matter what. Use Device Manager to update the driver for the wireless adapter. If that doesn't help, install the latest wireless driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site. If that doesn't work try w/o encryption on the router, and then try other encryptions. Please let us know the results of your attempts, as we are trying to get a better handle on the issues.
