After day one with a this computer, my wireless internet icon that used to show up beside the clock on the task bar has disappeared. I'm connected with an ethernet cable now, but am heading out of town and really want to have that wireless available. Any help?

Help for what? For making the wireless available when you head out of town? If it is a USB or PCMCIA or ExpressCard adapter just put it in your pocket and it will be available anywhere you go.

More specific help may be available if you tell us specifics about your computer and your wireless adapter and what wireless icon you're talking about, etc., etc.

I'm not that computer intelligent, so most of that was foreign to me, basically, the first day that I had this computer, I had the wireless icon on the notification bar that would tell me what wireless connections were available, what their strength was, what I was connected to, etc., now it's gone. I've only been able to connect to the internet with a cable, no sign of wireless at all.

You're missing the drivers for the wireless adapter, that's what the "Network Controller" is under "Other Devices".

If this is a laptop, go to the computer manufacturer's website and download the correct drivers for the wireless network adapter.
