Hi, I'm Jolly_Duck and am having the same problem. I have done everything above, but still can't connect. I have a weak signal strength, but this isn't the problem as we have a laptop and when its in the same room as the un-interneted one it connects. The only different thing is that I had to manualy type in the networks I.P. address. Hope xxunderlordxx dosn't mind me posting this :)

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Can you post an ipconfig /all for the computer having the problem?

Go to start> run> type cmd> type ipconfig /all in the black window that pops up. Copy the text from the window to the forum here. If possible you should run an ipconfig /all on another of your computers and compare the two.

You also might want to post the IP information for the computer that does connect. The comparison may be helpful. For example, there is another recent thread going on where the two computers and two different IP schemes. Just create the text file as mentioned previously, open it in notepad, and post the results.

The one that doesn't work has the same IP address as the gateway, 192.168.2.1

If you are using something like a wireless router, it should have an IP address that is different than the router (gateway's) IP. An example would be the computer that works - 192.168.2.3

There is definitely something weird going on with your network adapter. For some reason you're getting an autoconfiguration IP address that is the same as the address of your router on your wireless adapter. Is the misbehaving computer connecting wirelessly or is it connected with a cable. If it's connected with a cable then you have a completely different issue going on. The output for your wireless adapter just doesn't make sense, it shouldn't be possible to get the output you got there. Can you do another one on the computer that doesn't work and double check the address you get for autoconfiguration? If it's malfunctioning it should start with 169.

Yes, exactly what I pointed out.

Also from the information, the misbehaving computer is connecting wireless - "Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter". The wired connection shows Media Disconnected.

Can you confirm that you are connecting to your wireless router and not some other one.

Yeh, i'm connecting to the right one. It just uses the Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter to connect to it. it's like a memory stick thing to let the network connect. For the one that doesn't work, it had to type in the i.p. address for the network manually, so thats probably why its wrong (lol):)

Yes, you would need to put in something like 192.168.2.4 for the computers' IP address. The rest looks ok.

So how it is working now.

What happens if you don't put anything in for the IP address and let it obtain automatically

Nope, still not working. If you tell it to do it automaticaly, then it doesn't even connect to the network.:(
