wireless network pci card problems

Ive inserted the wireless network card in the pc and its shown in devices in ubuntu but have no clue how to get it all up and running please help me:eek:

You have a couple options. It sounds like you're in better shape than you might think!

This is the GUI option:
Go to System > Administration > Networking
Enter your user password.
Select the wireless NIC in the list of connections and click Activate after making sure everything in Properties looks good. If you're not sure, go with the defaults.

This is the command line option:
Open a terminal session.
Type ifconfig.
If you have a wired connection, check the name it'll probably be eth0.
Type
sudo ifconfig eth1 up

This will activate eth1. If eth0 is the wireless NIC, type
sudo ifconfig eth0 up.

hi thanks for the reply, have put the tower away before I chucked it out of the window, will get it back out tomorrow and do what you say and will get back to you, I so want it to work as hubby is xp xp xp and hes waiting for me to fall flat on me arse with ubuntu

My boyfriend used to be way pumped about XP and I've been slowly showing him the light. He was a Linux-hater but he has no points left. Best of luck to you!

right have got it online using a wired connection at the moment, have done what you siad but cant see were to click activate sorry am being a total dummy here
