Could it be a problem of no printer driver on the one toshiba?

What's different between the two working PCs and the toshiba? Maybe operating system? Maybe the printer was already installed on the other two but not the toshiba?

ok let me be a bit more specific. all machines are using windows xp. ive now gotten it to work on 4 different laptops. i found that assigning the printer server an IP made it much more reliable. so 2 toshibas 1 vaio and a dell work fine. there is a 3rd toshiba that does not work. i go to control panel and click add new printer and i choose the network option etc... and it picks up the linksys device but no printer underneath it. all other machines did not have this problem.

here is what happens on machine that worked... i clicked add printer, chose network option, click the + sign on the wireless printer server, and underneath it was the printer. i clicked next and it asked me for printer driver, click have disk and using thumb drive which has drivers on it click next, yes default, finish.

at this point im about to just restore the machine that does not work cause ive checked everything from firewalls to services under admin tools. unless you guys can think of a quick fix.

With your thoroughness I hesitate to even post this, but if the problematic PC is the only one not updated to SP2, with all of SP2's network fixes, ...

yeah its got SP2. im telling you i seriously think i tried everything. i even tried using linksys stupid software and it won't pick up the device either.

yeah mind made up, restoring unit and using netgear WIRED print server...netgear > linksys
