I need to buy an inexpensive printer. All seem to be wireless. I have wifi nearby. But, as a backup, can these also be hooked up to the computer by a wire? Which way is better? If I use a wire, what will it be? Are they standard? thanks, Frank

USB printer cables are pretty much interchangeable and can be used with different brands/models printers.
I keep several of them in my computer parts box, just in case I need one of a certain length for someone's printer.
If I recall correctly, 15' is the maximum length you can use.

I use nothing but HP DeskJet all-in-one printers, so I can't recommend any other brands/models for you.
My printers can be used with either a wireless connection or a USB cable connection.
I set mine up with a wireless connection because that reduces cable clutter.
