I have a Belkin G wireless router connected to an Arris modem (Comcast).
I am trying to connect a laptop and an android phone. There is also a PC connected to the wireless router via an ethernet cable.

When the PC is connected, the speed of the wireless connection drops significantly.
From my phone speedtest shows ping 13ms, 27.75 down and 24.18 up when the PC is not connected. When the PC is connected, speedtest shows ping 20ms, 0.2 down, and 0.1 up (if the connection doesn't time out.)

It seems the ethernet connection is taking nearly all the bandwidth and the wireless devices just won't work. How can I give equal bandwidth to the wired and wireless connections?

you probably cannot assign bandwidth - unless the router has QoS facility = exact model of router

However, it would be worth seeing if this is a fault OR if the PC is downloading

Do you have P2P on the Pc
What windows version - windows 10 shares updates
Or a virus that is using he bandwidth

If the PC is OFF does it still cause an issue

Any other device with etherenet you can try

Router is Belkin G Wireless router model F5D7234-4 V5

    No P2P
    Windows 10
    Virus scan turns up nothing

When the PC is off the issue doesn't occur.
Tried plugging the laptop in by ethernet and the wireless is fine on my phone.

Must be something the PC is doing.

how long as this been going on ?

Windows 10 maybe downloading the latest update - which is 3GB

however, lets try safemode with networking - that will at least show us if its a program on the W10 PC that is only starting on full startup

safemode with networking (sometimes wireless does not work with safemode )

    For Windows 10

Tried on safemode with networking. Still having the same issue.

The PC is new about a month old. The previous computer was connected the same way with no issues. It's my parent's house, and they don't have any wireless devices at the moment, so it's hard to say when the issue started.

Router was reset. I'll have to borrow a different router and see if that has any effect.

OR connect a laptop to the router via the same cable and see if the problem persists
Maybe easier than borrowing a router
